If you are sure that you have no problem with liver disease causes jaundice symptom, lung diseases which cause the lack of oxygen to peripheral part like finger nails, diabetes, kidney disease that increases the bilirubin level in the blood leading to yellow finger nails or damaged airway; then the beloved nail polish are the main reason for yellow finger nails in women. The darker tones of polish leave more stain with left over dyes in your nails. But what about the men, they never put on nail polish, why do they have yellow nails? You need to ask them about how much nicotine and tar in cigarettes they take every day and the solution for smokers to clean over their nails is stop smoking or reduce the amount of cigarettes they take in one day. Or less popular, fungal infection is sometimes the cause for yellow finger nails. So, how to get rid of yellow nails? We would like to show you now!

  1. Avoid using too much dark- toned nail polish

Leaving nail polish with dark color and dyes in your finger nails may change the natural color of nails, from ruddy to unwelcomed yellow types of saffron. Switch the polish’s color to something bright and nice. Or stop putting polish in temporary duration if you can’t bear the bright color of nail polish. This solution might be better so your finger nails have more time to breathe and recover. The more nail polish for hiding the stained nails make your condition worse!

  1. A base coat is always needed for every nail polish

The base coat for your finger before applying nail polish not only increases the life of your nail polish but also protects finger nails from stains caused by dyes and artificial colors. This step can protect your nails and keep them healthier before applying nail polish.

  1. Use the bleaching not harmful to your finger nails
  • Lemon. Lemon is considered as the natural bleaching agents which removes the nails stain in your finger nails completely. Soaking the finger nails and surrounding both removes the stain and yellow color in your nails and mends the pores in the areas under the nails because lemon also works as an astringent. After removing any current polish on your nails, let your fingers in the lemon juice with water in 10- 15 minutes the gently rub nails with soft toothbrush. Rinse them with lukewarm water then put some moisturizer on nails.

Another use of lemons, you can slice lemon into 2 halves and rub finger nails directly with them. Remember using home remedies from lemon is not an immediate therapy, your stains can’t get away in 1 or 2 days. So be patient!

  • Whitening agents. Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are 2 whitening agents that are effective for discolored nails resulting from nail polish, cigarettes and some conditions causing yellow nails. But it’s not the remedy for fungal infection which needs treatment from the root of problems. If you have difficulties with measuring, be careful with hydrogen peroxide as it can burn yourselves with this compound. Mix 3-4 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with a cup of water to protect your finger nails and soak them in the mixed water for 2 minutes then brush nails with soft toothbrush. Do it once a month or twice a week may be better for you.

The mixture of baking soda and olive oil bring natural color of your finger nails back and moisturize the surround areas at the same time. Do the same whitening process with baking soda as with hydrogen peroxide and see how it works.

Another treatment is toothpaste. It’s much safer for your nails because it is also safe to brush your teeth. Some whitening toothpaste contains both hydrogen peroxide and baking soda but they are mixed well with other adjuvants in correct formula.

  • If you have fungal problems and you think the problems have just started for a few times ago apply some drops of tea tree oil may decrease the infection caused by fungus.
